Arsenal Weekly | Vol. 20

Arsenal kicked off their new Premier League season with a home win against newcomers Coventry, which needed to be confirmed in the second round in the cauldron of Villa Park. Mikel Arteta's side ultimately managed this in Monday's rescheduled fixture, but the path to the three points was certainly not straightforward. A single goal was enough for Arsenal's victory, scored by Bukayo Saka, who had also found the net in the opening match. Although the Gunners certainly did not put in one of their better performances against the Villans, it is primarily the points that play the most important role in the end. Thanks to the victory, Arsenal moved up to provisional second place and also joined the 100% trio of clubs: Manchester City, Chelsea, and Hull. What else did the past week bring?

• Naturally, players from Arsenal were not missing from the English Premier League Team of the Season poll this time either. Elected to the best eleven of the past season were David Raya, Jurriën Timber, William Saliba, Gabriel and Declan Rice. Special mention should go to William Saliba, who has appeared in the Team of the Season for the fourth consecutive time, meaning in every campaign he has played in the Premier League.
