Arsenal Weekly Vol. 5
All relevant information, news and interesting facts from the last week of February [23 February - 1 March 2026]

Arsenal, after their triumph in the North London derby, unusually had a whole week to prepare for the next big game, the home derby against Chelsea. Despite the fact that the charges Mikel Arteta's they didn't give the best performance, so they fulfilled the most important thing, getting three points. There was more than enough to see in a game that the unbiased spectator could enjoy the most. From controversial refereeing decisions to sending offs to goals. In a way, the London derby had almost everything a match like this should have. The only thing I found a little lacking on both sides was quality, but history won't question that. As I announced before, the most important thing for Arsenal was to win, which they did. Now the Emirates Stadium footballers must shift their attention to their next game, which will be a league clash on Brighton's turf. But we'll take a look at some of the other highlights from last week.

Premier League

  • Viktor Gyökeres was named not only Player of the Match for his performance at Tottenham, but also Premier League Player of the Week.
  • After a short break from football caused by a problem with the back thigh muscle returned to the pitch against Chelsea Kai Havertz. The Spanish manager has all three spike strikers at his disposal again after a long time.
  • On the other hand, due to an as yet unspecified health problem, he had to leave the field prematurely Declan Rice. Mikel Arteta confirmed immediately after the game that the midfielder's condition was a forced change and added that Arsenal's medical team will have to assess his condition. At first glance, it seemed that it should not be a serious problem, so hopefully this prognosis will be confirmed. We'll see if Rice will be ready for the next game Arsenal take on in the Premier League on Wednesday.
  • Arsenal scored both times against Chelsea after corner kicks, tying the Premier League record for most goals from standard situations in a single season. Arsenal players have already made their way from standard situations in this year's Premier League 2025/2026 sixteen times. With nine league games left in the Arsenal season, the question is, can the Gunners break the record for most goals from standard situations in a season?

Other

  • We finally know the Champions League draw! Arsenal take on Bayer Leverkusen in the Round of 16, in which, among other things Czech national player Patrik Schick. The Gunners will play their first game in the German opponent Wednesday 11 March 2026 at 18:45 (CET). The rematch is scheduled for somewhere other than London a week later, namely March 17, 2026 at 21:00 (CET). If Arsenal manages to get past Bayer Leverkusen, the better of Sporting Lisbon and Bodø/Glimt will be waiting for them in the quarter-finals.
  • It's not just Kai Havertz making a comeback, but also a youngster Max Dowman, who played a half in the Premier League 2 (U21 competition) at the weekend. We probably won't see much of him on the pitch in Premier League or Champions League games for the rest of the season, but the FA Cup could be a different story. Arsenal have a game against Mansfield this weekend, and the talented midfielder could jump in for at least a few minutes.
  • Ethan Nwaneri, who is away in Marseille until the end of the season, was involved in assist in Marseille's win over Lyon. The young English midfielder only came on after an hour of play, but still managed to score assist on the decisive goal by former Arsenal player and captain Pierre Emerick-Aubameyang.
  • The Arsenal players had a joint programme off the pitch during the week. The whole team, along with the women's team and some of the club's legends, took part in the fundraising event called Night to Belong.
