Prepare your masks, Viktor Gyökeres has officially become an Arsenal player! The fact that the North London team lacked a typical goal scorer has been talked about for several years. That's not news. However, this debate gained momentum around the middle of last season when Arsenal lost a player to injury Gabriel Jesus and Kai Havertz. For the rest of the season, a central midfielder had to play at the top Mikel Merino. So the width of the squad at this position was definitely not ideal. And that was far from the only problem of Arsenal's offensive line. The biggest one was scoring goals. All that would end with the arrival of the uncompromising Swede. 110 goals in the last two seasons for the club and the national team probably says it all.
Retrieved from Mikel Arteta the final piece of the puzzle that will lead him to his dream trophies? We'll have to be surprised. Personally, however, I am excited about the transfer of the Swedish striker. In my opinion, he's exactly the type of player Arsenal have desperately needed in recent years. Although their playing styles are not exactly the same, Viktor Gyökeres reminds me a bit of Jamie Vardy. Straightforwardness, brashness, hunger and most importantly, a killer instinct in front of goal. Team slowly but surely the Gunners are starting to look really fluffy at all positions.
Finally, I'll just add some information about the transfer itself. From Arsenal's point of view, it looked for a long time like a decision between Viktor Gyökeres and Benjamin Šešek. Given to the huge interest of the player in transferring to Arsenal and the lower transfer fee the club's management decided to go for the former Sporting Lisbon player. However, the management of the Portuguese club, specifically its president, did not make the transfer easy for Arsenal. The two clubs eventually found common ground. Arsenal will send a sum to Sporting's coffers 55 million poundswhich, after activating all bonuses, can increase by an additional £8 million. After the last negotiations, the bonus package is finally set up so that its activation is easily achievable.
Welcome to the Arsenal, Viktor!
