In our last blog, we went through the current situation at Arsenal together and looked at realistic and dream transfer targets. Now, roughly three weeks later, we can be much more specific. The transfer window is in full swing and Arsenal have done enough so far by their standards. Both in terms of the number of transfers and the money spent. It's no secret that Mikel Arteta ideally wants to have all the new faces in the squad before the Asian training camp that awaits Arsenal at the end of July. It looks like the Spanish manager is doing everything he can to make that happen.
New reinforcements
At the moment, Arsenal have confirmed the arrival of three football players. The goalkeeper position was filled by Kepa Arrizabalaga, while the center row was expanded Martín Zubimendi and Christian Nørgaard. The next reinforcement should become Noni Madueke...who should have passed his physical by now. In his case, we are practically only waiting for an official announcement from the club. And finally, the hottest part! According to relevant sources, Arsenal management has made significant progress in negotiations with Sporting regarding the transfer Viktor Gyökeres. The agreement should be very close. But let's look at everything in order.
Kepa Arrizabalaga
Arsenal's first summer signing is a goalkeeper Kepa Arrizabalagawho headed to north London from rival Chelsea for just £5 million. The Spanish goalkeeper, with experience in the best competitions in the world (including the Premier League), should back his compatriot in Mikel Arteta's team David Ray. All things considered, signing Kepa was a good move in my opinion.
Martín Zubimendi
Long awaited arrival Martín Zubimendi from Real Sociedad finally became a reality in the summer transfer window. Arsenal have been battling with the likes of Liverpool and Real Madrid for the Spanish midfielder's services. However, the enormous interest of Mikel Arteta convinced Martín Zubimendi to sign for Arsenal London, where he should be one of the pillars of the midfield. The final transfer sum that will go into the San Sebastian club's coffers is £51 million.
Christian Nørgaard
After the club left Jorginho and Thomas Partey, Arsenal needed to replenish the midfield not only in terms of personnel. That's why the North London management decided to bring in the former Brentford captain Christian Nørgaard. The Danish international joined Arsenal for £10 million (£2 million in potential bonuses). Noni Madueke
In the case of the England international, it is almost impossible to talk about "speculation". Noni Madueke's transfer from Chelsea to Arsenal has been confirmed by all relevant sources. The 23-year-old winger will become the next footballer to change his location within the capital and exchange the blue jersey for the red one. The amount Arsenal will have to send to Stamford Bridge is £48 million + £4 million in potential bonuses. It was the price of the transfer that sparked a wave of negative reactions among Canaries fans. In my opinion, the amount is also unnecessarily exorbitant, but if Arsenal has the means to bring in a difference spike striker (I'll get to that in the following lines) and another winger, I don't have the slightest problem with his transfer. Let's see what kind of position Noni Madueke builds at Arsenal.
Viktor Gyökeres
Arsenal should finally be very close to getting the main transfer target of the whole summer! This the information has already been confirmed by renowned journalists Fabrizio Romano and David Ornstein. Despite the fact that the Swedish striker had an agreement with Sporting president Federico Varandas regarding the amount of the transfer fee, Sporting rejected Arsenal's offers, although they were even higher than the agreed amount. The Portuguese club's behaviour led to Viktor Gyökeres refusing to start training to make it clear that he does not intend to continue at Sporting. The situation between Sporting and Gyökeres has escalated considerably in recent days, but by all accounts this should be the end of it. Swedish sharpshooter expected to join Arsenal in the coming days. The final transfer amount agreed by both clubs is £55 million + £8 million in potential bonuses.
Cristhian Mosquera
The Canaries' interest in the Valencia defender has been rumoured for the first time about two weeks ago.. The management of the London team has even sent a first offer for the player, which the Spanish club rejected. Arsenal are expected to return very soon with an improved offer that should satisfy Valencia's demands. Specifically, it should be for a sum in the region of £17 million. Personal terms shouldn't be a problem, Mosquera is interested in a move to north London and wants to become part of Mikel Arteta's squad.
Eberechi Eze
Arsenal's interest in the English offensive all-rounder is nothing new. A number of sources even confirmed the previous communication between the player and the club regarding personal terms. Arsenal are well aware of the buyout clause the Eagles star has built into his contract. Specifically. £60 million. Arsenal plan to renew talks with Crystal Palace over the transfer of Eze, with the understanding that they would like to bring the price down below the buy-out clause. It occurs to me that the Arsenal management might include in the offer one of the players they are not counting on in the future. Let's be surprised how the situation turns out in the end.
Rodrigo
The latest name to be linked with a move to Arsenal, perhaps since the end of last season, is Rodrigo. The Brazilian footballer remains in the shadow of his star teammates at Real Madrid, and so there is logical speculation about his departure. Moreover, in recent days, there have been media reports that the Spanish club is the Brazilian offensive player's to sell for around £90 million. Although Mikel Arteta is one of his big admirers, I don't think Rodrygo will be heading to the Emirates Stadium. I see the price and salary demands of the player as the main reasons. Considering how much Arsenal have already spent in the summer transfer window (and will soon spend even more), then Rodrygo will be too expensive for Arsenal, plain and simple.. Moreover, his services will be in great demand in the camp of other clubs. To be clear, I would of course welcome the arrival of the Brazilian, but as I wrote, it seems absolutely unrealistic to me.
New contracts
Recently. have extended their contracts with Arsenal Gabriel and Myles Lewis-Skelly.
